Summer International Cup
Aimed at young sailors aged 7 to 14, the Coupe Internationale d’Été is an event that commands the attention of the Optimist class. With over 350 competitors from across Europe, this event is a major highlight for racers, divided into different categories (Benjamin, Minime, and Criterium).
For the fourth time in its history, the Centre Nautique Biscarrosse Olympique welcomed the new generation to its waters. The week’s program featured fleet races, team races, and a long-distance raid. As every year, the young talents from the Yacht Club de Monaco’s Sports Section approached this event on the calendar with flair.
The competitions unfolded over five days in winds ranging from 5 to 12 knots. In the Criterium category, Sacha Mousny finished 9th overall and secured 1st place among sailors born in 2014. In the same class, Anastasyia Verpeka claimed 16th place, also ranking as the 3rd girl overall and the 1st girl born in 2014. Victor Marquet finished in 39th place, with two second-place finishes, just ahead of Mona Benchekroun in 40th, who also claimed one second-place finish.
In the Benjamin category, 98 participants made up the fleet. Pietro Carlevaris and Joséphine Dobbelaere finished in 24th and 48th place, respectively, while Louis Faivre and Jules Huon battled neck-and-neck, finishing in 51st and 54th place, respectively.
In the premier category, the Minime class brought together 170 competitors, including Facundo Rubinelli, who finished in 52nd place, ahead of Océane Schroeder in 58th place and Alexandra Santelli in 122nd place.
After a few days of rest, the athletes from the Sports Section will set their sights on Lake Garda, where the Trofeo Lombardi will be held, followed by the Ora Cup Ora.
