Organised since 2014 by the Yacht Club de Monaco in partnership with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge brings together key industry players and the future of engineering with students from schools and universities around the world, around alternative propulsion and sustainability.
It brings together boats that are already on the market or about to be, as well as prototypes. The aim is to create a bridge between the yachting industry and young engineers, and to stimulate their creativity.
The event, which is part of the collective ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ initiative, marks a significant step forward in the quest for a more sustainable maritime future, as evidenced by the growing participation of universities from all over the world alongside major players in the sector such as
Monaco Marine, Oceanco, Ferretti Group, Sanlorenzo, Azimut | Benetti Group and Lürssen.

Launched in 1994, this biennial event, the only one of its kind in the world, is organised by the Monaco Yacht Club and has the unique feature of bringing together both small and large yachts in the same port. Some forty traditional sailing yachts, including Elena of London, Creole, Black Swan and Atlantic, a dozen vintage motor yachts, around sixty vintage motorboats and twenty 12′ Dinghies were invited to the 16th edition of Monaco Classic Week – La Belle Classe. They all pulled out all the stops to win over the jury chaired by
Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, as well as the public who came to stroll through the village.
