Navigating towards a sustainable future

YCM Marina adopts eco-responsible practices and supports initiatives that encourage virtuous navigation.

Green initiatives

Aqua electric boat charging station

In May 2019, two AQUA SUPERPOWER charging stations were installed on the quay to recharge boats. At the time, the Yacht Club de Monaco was one of the pioneers in this initiative. Since the summer of 2023, two new charging stations have been installed at the Touch & Go pontoon, offering four DC charging points. Boats equipped with a DC Combo connector can recharge up to 150 kW in just a few minutes, free of charge.

By providing a free, accessible recharging infrastructure, these charging points encourage the adoption of electric boats, which emit less CO2 than traditional diesel or petrol-powered boats. This helps reduce air and water pollution, contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable maritime environment.

24 Biohuts installed in the YCM Marina

The Yacht Club de Monaco has decided to become a true ecological corridor in the Port Hercule by enabling the installation of 24 new nurseries in the YCM Marina. Since 2014, the Direction des Affaires Maritimes (DAM), the Direction de l’Environnement (DE) and the Société d’Exploitation des Ports de Monaco (SEPM) have called on the Ecocéan company to install “Biohuts” in the Principality’s ports to create artificial habitats that reintroduce the ecological nursery function of rocky and sandy bottoms. The process protects the larvae from predators. As a result, they are more likely to survive and contribute to the growth of adult populations.
BIOTOPE’s biannual scientific monitoring reports, which record the presence of 416 fish of 12 different species and a highly developed and varied fauna, attest to the effectiveness of these facilities. The DAM, DE and SEPM have therefore decided to continue this partnership for a further four years. In all, 79 nurseries have been installed in Monaco’s ports, which will ultimately cover the entire Port Hercule and Port de Fontvieille, in order to restore the ecosystem impacted by human activity.

Cleaning robot

Installed within the YCM Marina since 2021, DPOL contributes to the reduction of water pollution. Thanks to this initiative, nearly 5 kg of floating waste is collected every month.

Water collection

At the Yacht Club de Monaco, our advanced grey and black water collection system represents a significant step towards a cleaner marine environment. By using a dockside connection method (gravitational method), we effectively avoid uncontrolled discharges into the sea, treating a significant volume of wastewater each year. This approach not only preserves the quality of the surrounding water, but also reduces the impact on the marine ecosystem. By promoting sustainability, we demonstrate our commitment to protecting our precious aquatic resources.
