The Engineering of the Future of Leisure Yachting

The challenge is based on the values of innovation and sustainability. Participants are encouraged to explore new technologies, innovative materials, and alternative propulsion systems that minimize environmental impact while maintaining nautical performance. This includes the use of solar energy, hydrogen, electricity, and other renewable energy sources to power the vessels.

Heading for the 2025 edition

An international dimension

Participation of over 40 universities and professionals from around the world, including renowned institutions such as Politecnico di Milano, TU Delft, and the University of Cambridge. A truly global and multicultural event, promoting exchange and collaboration on an international scale.

4 classes

Exploration of sustainable technologies in terms of propulsion (solar energy, hydrogen, etc.) and innovative materials (recyclable composites, natural fibers, etc.) in the Energy, iA, SeaLab, and Open Sea classes.

This class invites teams to design not only an innovative cockpit but also the most efficient and sustainable propulsion system.

The AI class paves the way for pioneering teams in cutting-edge artificial intelligence solutions within the yachting industry.

SeaLab

The SeaLab class, which is the main class of the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, challenges participants in naval architecture to design and build cutting-edge, technologically advanced boats.

Open Sea

The Open Sea class is primarily open to exhibitors from the YCM Marina and boats that are already on the market or about to be launched.

  • Thrilling Races A multifaceted program featuring a range of nautical events such as maneuverability tests, sea trials, speed records, endurance races, and slalom challenges, all set in a festive and fair-play atmosphere. To be followed from the Lucciana pier and the Y.C.M. docks.

AT LAND

  • Innovation demonstrator Located in the YCM Marina, SeaLab offers the opportunity to discover cutting-edge projects, prototypes, and demonstrators.
  • Mentoring Program Meetings with teams and professionals from the global yachting industry, including renowned companies such as Azimut-Benetti, Sanlorenzo, Ferretti Group, Lürssen, and Monaco Marine.
  • Meeting with Talents In parallel to the tailored support provided by the Corporate Mentoring Programme, all competitors have the opportunity to apply for job and internship offers posted by the industry through the Job Forum.
  • Conference The opportunity to attend multiple open-source discussions, such as daily Tech Talks, conferences, and the Hydrogen Round Table.
