History and Heritage

Founded in 1953 by Prince Rainier and presided over since 1984 by His Serene Highness Prince Sovereign Albert II, the Yacht Club de Monaco brings together 2,500 members from 80 nationalities. Hosting some of the world’s most prestigious private yachts under its flag, the Y.C.M. now holds a unique position in the world of yachting and international luxury sailing.

Inauguration of the new Y.C.M. building

Anchored at 43°44’14’’ North Latitude and 7°25’40’’ East Longitude on the Quai des Etats-Unis, this “high-tech” building, designed to resemble a ship, is moored at Quai Louis II. It houses the two historic nautical clubs of the Principality, the Société Nautique, dedicated to rowing, and the Yacht Club, a meeting point for owners and all activities related to international yachting. Alongside Lord Norman Foster, Jacques Grange and Nelson Wilmotte have contributed their expertise to the interior design of this new building.

Vision and values

The Yacht Club de Monaco truly embodies excellence in the art of sailing, while also demonstrating a deep commitment to ocean conservation and environmental sustainability. It places environmental respect at the heart of all its actions, supporting innovative initiatives that promote ecological and responsible yachting.
