YCM shines at heart of exceptional edition

Every year since 1999, the harbour of Saint-Tropez in the Var transforms into a theatre that attracts 250 boats and 3,000 plus crew from all over the world. Between fierce competition and the Mediterranean sunshine, Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez has become established as a not-to-be-missed event on the calendar. The 2024 edition saw an outstanding fleet of sailing yachts, from classic boats dating back to the late 19th century to ultra-modern race machines. Three classes rival each other for elegance and performance, historic classic gems, the modern pearls of technology and speed, and the imposing 60-foot hi-tech Maxis.

Talent and preparation paid off for Yacht Club de Monaco crews at this edition, with YCM’s flagship Tuiga in the Big Boat category, helmed by its Vice-President Pierre Casiraghi, winning the Château Saint-Maur Trophy, thanks to a faultless performance.
In the Marconi Classic, Argynne III came 3rd to win the SNSM Trophy with 10 points.
In the Vintage Marconi, Carron II finished 2nd out of 16 boats. In the IOR class, the famous Il Moro di Venezia, skippered by Massimiliano Ferruzzi, reaffirmed her supremacy by winning the trophy for best IOR and also the Club 55 Paul Watson Cup against Belle Aventure, to complete a perfect week for her crew. In the Maxis, YCM again made the headlines with Peter Harrison’s Jolt which won the prestigious Barons de Rothschild Trophy in the Maxi A class and the IMA Trophy for best IMA member. In the same category, note the well-deserved 8th place of Black Jack, helmed by Tristan Le Brun. In the Maxi C, Wallyño, skippered by Benoît de Froidmont, secured a brilliant 2nd place just one point short of victory.
